CHRISTOPHER BLUNT | Ph.D.

Christopher Blunt has been designing, conducting, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative research for over thirty years. His analysis has helped shape communication campaigns nationally and in many individual states. His strategic recommendations have also contributed to numerous primary and general election victories for presidential, senatorial, gubernatorial, and other candidates. In addition, his research has helped guide nonprofit organizations, trade associations, large and small corporations, public and private utilities, colleges and universities, and advocacy campaigns.

He says, “What I enjoy most about public opinion research is discovering how and why people think the way they do about a particular issue or candidate – and what information they need to learn to develop a more informed opinion about that same issue or candidate.”

Many of Dr. Blunt’s clients are other research firms, ranging in size from the global to the boutique, who entrust him with the next-level analysis of their data. These include one of the country’s most prominent microtargeting firms, for whom he has produced countless voter turnout and other models over the last ten national election cycles. Another client, a trial consulting firm, has relied on his research and analysis to guide jury selection in over a dozen high-profile cases, including some in the federal Southern District of New York. For other clients, he has produced consumer segmentations and attribute driver models that have helped guide national and international product marketing campaigns. He also serves as an analyst with a major news network’s decision team, using statistical vote models to correctly project outcomes on every national general election night since 2006.

Dr. Blunt worked with Fred Steeper at Market Strategies, Inc., a national marketing research and Republican polling firm, for a dozen years before founding Overbrook Research in 2003. He is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR). He holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in political science from Northwestern University, and later went back to complete a doctorate at UCLA. A native of the Seattle area, he and his family currently live in rural mid-Michigan, where they own a fifteen-acre farm.
